Skiyente PACRAT Scholarship

The Diane Hicks – Skiyente PACRAT Racing Scholarship provides $250 each winter to support Skiyente members who race in the PACRAT League and demonstrate dedication, financial need, and a positive commitment to women’s skiing in Government Camp. This scholarship shares Diane's passion for community, sportsmanship, and accessible racing.

Official Criteria & Requirements

1. Eligibility

To qualify for the Diane Hicks Skiyente PACRAT Racing Scholarship, applicants must:

  1. Be an active member of Skiyente Ski Club in good standing.
     

  2. Be a registered racer in the PACRAT Race League for the current season.
     

  3. Uphold Skiyente’s standards of sportsmanship, community involvement, and club representation.

 

2. Race Participation Requirement

Applicants must complete all counted PACRAT races scheduled for their team and division during the season.

  • “Counted races” are defined by the PACRAT league schedule and rules.
     

  • Exceptions for illness or injury race cancellations will be reviewed case-by-case.

    • In circumstances out of your control keep you from completing, you must participate in other volunteer capacities.
       

  • Participation must be verifiable through official PACRAT results or captain/league confirmation.

 

3. Financial Need

This scholarship is designed to assist racers with genuine financial need.

Applicants must provide:

  • A brief statement outlining financial constraints related to PACRAT racing.
     

  • Expected expenses (league fees, lift tickets, equipment, etc.).
     

  • Any optional supporting documents the applicant wishes to submit.
     

Financial need will be considered alongside commitment and character.

 

4. Character & Commitment to Women’s Skiing in Government Camp

Applicants must demonstrate positive character and a clear commitment to supporting women’s skiing in Government Camp. This may include:

  • Actively promoting women’s participation in skiing and racing.
     

  • Representing Skiyente with integrity, inclusivity, and sportsmanship.
     

  • Volunteering or participating in events that strengthen the women’s ski community.
     

  • Supporting fellow female racers, mentoring new members, or assisting with club activities.
     

A brief written statement or recommendation may be requested as part of the application.

 

5. Use of Scholarship Funds

Scholarship funds may be used for PACRAT-related expenses, including:

  • Race league fees
     

  • Lift tickets or season passes used for race events
     

  • Required racing equipment
     

  • Training or conditioning programs related to the PACRAT season
     

Funds may not be used for unrelated personal expenses.

 

6. Selection Process

The Skiyente Scholarship Committee will review all applications. Selection is based on:

  1. Completion of all counted PACRAT races
     

  2. Demonstrated financial need
     

  3. Character and commitment to women’s skiing in Government Camp
     

Committee decisions are final.

 

7. Recipient Responsibilities

Award recipients must:

  • Remain in good standing with Skiyente and PACRAT throughout the season.
     

  • Continue to represent the club with sportsmanship and enthusiasm.
     

  • Submit a brief summary at season’s end describing racing experiences and community involvement.

Include the following:

  • Your name and confirmation that you are a Skiyente member in good standing and a registered PACRAT racer.
     

  • A brief financial need statement and expected PACRAT-related expenses.
     

  • A short description of how you support or contribute to women’s skiing in Government Camp.
     

  • Confirmation that scholarship funds will be used for approved racing-related expenses.
     

Applicants must agree to submit a brief end-of-season summary if awarded.
